Summary
SummaryMy name is Ailin, and Iβm a teenager from Central Asia. Growing up as a Christian in a Muslim-majority society hasnβt been easyβespecially with deaf parents who were rejected for both their faith and their disability. When I grew deeper in my faith and started going to church more, my relatives began to block meβsometimes even staying overnight to prevent me from attending services. They pressured me to renounce Christ and recite the Islamic declaration of faith, but I stood firm and said, βI know my GodβJesus is Lord.β
The pressure got worse. One morning, police raided our house without warning. My mom and I were taken in for questioning after they found Christian literature, but through prayer, we were released without charges. Later, I found a community of other deaf children and children of deaf parents through Open Doors. This ministry has shown me Godβs love in powerful ways. For the first time, I felt surrounded by people who prayed with me, taught me about Jesus, and encouraged me to grow stronger in faith. ππβ¨
Ailinβs* parents are deaf β and Christian β which makes them especially vulnerable to persecution. Rejected by their family, and even arrested, Ailin and her parents have since received practical and spiritual support from local Open Doors partners.
