Summary
SummaryI’m Frosty, an 80-year-old artist, and I never thought God still had a purpose for me. 🎨 In my basement studio, I was sketching with a handful of colored pencils when the doorbell rang. A young man named Carlin handed me a landscaping brochure. When he noticed my pencils, the Holy Spirit nudged me to let him in—even though fear told me otherwise. I showed him my art, and weeks later I called him to work on my backyard. To my surprise, Carlin asked if I’d be his art teacher. I sensed right then God was at work.
We started meeting for weekly lessons and Bible study of John’s Gospel. Even though his landscaping job got busy, Carlin faithfully showed up. A few weeks later, while visiting his grandparents in Arizona, he emailed me: “I became born again during this trip!” His words filled me with joy—I realized my late-life “usefulness” was far from over.
Watching Carlin’s faith grow reminded me of how lonely I felt at twenty, wishing for a mentor. Now God was using me to guide a young man. I’m overwhelmed with gratitude that at eighty, I still get to answer God’s call and open my door with that handful of colored pencils in hand. 🙏✨
At 80 years old, Frosty thought his usefulness for the Lord had near about run out. That changed with a knock at his door.
