Summary
SummaryI grew up in a home torn by divorce and constant conflict, and by the time I was a teenager, I was battling deep self-worth issues π. I started seeking attention in all the wrong placesβdrinking, drugs, and risky relationships. By age 15, I had contracted an STD and slipped further into depression. I dropped out of school and lived on my own as I spiraled into alcoholism and meth addiction. Soon, I found myself homeless, lugging a suitcase downtown, convinced I had no future.
One day, while driving a company van under the influence, I caused an accident and lost everything. My mom had been praying for me for months, and without a job or car, I reached a desperate point where I called my sister and admitted I needed help. My family arranged for me to fly to a rehab center in Kansas City, Missouri. I arrived with nothing but dirty clothes and a broken heart, but I stayed sober for the first time in a long while. After two weeks, I felt ready to return homeβbut a simple prayer changed everything.
On a Tuesday evening, after a prayer in the chapel, I was getting on the bus to leave when a complete stranger approached me. He told me, βDonβt leave, donβt give upβGod has a calling over your life, and you have a blank check to use wisely.β I had never felt anyone care so deeply π³. In that moment, I realized God wanted me. I gave my life to Him, got baptized, and felt a supernatural healingβa flood of peace washed over my mind and body π.
Over the next two years in Kansas City, I not only healed from addiction but started encouraging my younger sister to seek the Lord too. She and many family members came to faith as they saw the change in me. When I returned home in 2018, I battled anxiety and even relapsed with alcohol and weed. But through fasting and renewed prayer, God called me back againβthis time to fast, pray, and surrender my will. That led to a missions trip where I met my husband, Jared. Despite my fear and mistrust, God confirmed his calling as my future spouse through dreams, prophetic words, and little βnoodleβ signs. Eventually, we married and faced lifeβs ups and downs together, trusting Proverbs 3:5β6 to guide us.
Today, addiction no longer defines me. Jesus is my everythingβmy healer, my Savior, and my friend. I live each day grateful that a random bus encounter drew me into Godβs arms. My prayer for anyone listening is that you know you are loved, you have worth, and only a relationship with Jesus can truly satisfy your heart β€οΈ.
