Summary
SummaryMy name is Mohamad Faridi. I was born in war-torn Iran under strict Shiβite Sharia. From childhood, I beat my chest and even let sharp blades trace my head in religious ritual, all hoping to please Allah. At 18, I joined the Revolutionary Army of Iran, ready to die as a martyr for jihadβmy zeal burning like wildfire. But at 23, in Tehran, a friend who had found Jesus pierced my heart with the Gospel. In one prayer, I felt peace for the first timeβrestlessness vanished like a cancer being cut out, replaced by calm and eternal hope. I fled persecution, left behind my old life, and found new life in Christ, His love conquering every fear and cruelty I once embraced.

In ‘Forsaking My Father’s Religion’ Mohamad Faridi, a devote Muslim from the Middle East, describes his dramatic life story of growing up under Sharia law in a strict Shi’ite family. At the moment of birth Mohamad was dedicated to Islam by the reciting of the Qur’an in his ear. He struggled on a constant basis to do what Islam asked of him to please Allah. After years of committing to the Muslim faith, his goal ultimately became to be a martyr in Jihad to defend Islam. But God had a different plan. He encountered the Messiah at the age of 23 in Tehran, Iran, committed the unforgivable sin, Shirk, and became an apostate. Due to persecution he fled Iran for his life.
