Summary

SummaryI was just 17 when my world fell apartβ€”my dad died of cancer, and I felt utterly fatherless 😒. In my 20s, there were nights I’d sneak into the kitchen at midnight, kneel before the dark sky, and pour out my heart: β€œAll I want is a father” πŸ™. Three weeks before that moment, my softball coach introduced me to God, and one morning I knelt in a toilet cubicle at work and prayed. When I returned to the studio, my mind was miraculously clearβ€”HD clarity! 🀯 The next day, I stepped onto a church compound and felt my fears wash away, replaced by an overwhelming flood of love ❀️. My pastor later told me that God said, β€œTell Felicia I am her Father,” and in that moment, I wept uncontrollably as I recalled those lonely kitchen prayers. Over the past five years, God has shown me His intimate care: every strand of my hair numbered, every tear known. He is my perfect Father for eternity.

After she lost her dad to cancer when she was 17, Mediacorp actress Felicia Chin found herself desperately yearning for a father’s love.

“There were at least two nights when I would go to the kitchen, kneel down and then look into the dark skies. I would just cry my heart out and say: ‘Whoever is up there, all I want is a father.”

This loneliness stuck with her for years, until she discovered five years ago that all she had been aching for had always been right beside her.

Most of us spend more than half of our waking hours at the workplace. That’s more than we spend with our family or church. We know what the Bible tells us about being salt and light, serving and leading to the glory of God. But we all know that living out our faith at work isn’t always the easiest, most straightforward journey. We all could use some encouragement and equipping on how to be overcoming, influential Christians at the marketplace. Salt&Light is a gathering place for Christians to unite in spirit and purpose to see God in the 9-to-5, to influence and to impact, to find meaning in the mundane, to wrestle with doubt and despair in faith – and find amazing grace for the journey ahead.
