I grew up in a home marked by my father’s alcoholism, depression, and prison stays alongside my brothers. Surrounded by grief—from my niece’s tragic death to a close friend’s fatal accident—I doubted God’s love. A frustrated college student, I vowed to reject any talk of Jesus until a persistent friend confronted me in the campus cafeteria. His gentle witness and my recurring nightmares of waking in a coffin pierced my defenses. Week after week he invited me to church; finally, under the power of the Holy Spirit, I stood—locked in the aisle—committing my life to Christ on October 23, 1988. Years later, God led me to serve in ministry where He brought Nadine, a single parent, into my life. Through patient courtship rooted in biblical principles, we built a marriage that has flourished for 31 years. Today I share how God delivered me from fear, failure, and despair into supernatural peace and purpose.
