Summary
SummaryIβm Emilie Juatco, a choir director for the Church Of Christ, blessed to witness Godβs hand at work through our choirβs ministry in Mexico. We began singing for worship services in Mexico back in 1996, when there were no local choir members. Despite language barriers and long travels, we taught our members to sing in Spanish, felt the Holy Spirit move powerfully in worship, and saw the faith of brethren blossom. Oaxaca especially touched my heartβpoverty was present, but the love for God was greater. Families carried babies through the cold and rain to attend worship. Sister Tomasita, who earned a living from a small public bathroom, joyfully served meals to us with love and warmth. Many of our volunteers spent money, took unpaid leave, and traveled long distances simply to sing praises to God. Their faith inspired me deeply. I came to serve, but I left renewedβmore in love with my duty and in awe of how God uses worship to bring people together. ππππ΅
In preparation for Mexico’s first visit from Executive Minister Brother Eduardo V. Manalo, Southern California Choir Director Emilie Juatco reflects on the origins of the volunteer choir who traveled and witnessed the growth of the INC in the country.
