When my son Shawn arrived with five heart defects, the adoptive couple stepped back, and suddenly it was just us: me and this fragile newborn. Three days old, his first open-heart surgery failed. Desperate, I wandered into a random church in an unfamiliar city, got on my knees, and begged God to save my boyβ€”and He did! At eight days old, Shawn’s second surgery succeeded. Seeing that miracle, I met Jackie in collegeβ€”my better halfβ€”and through her I learned about Jesus. Brothers Art and Bill studied Scripture with me daily until I faced the cross myself. Writing a letter to God, I realized I’d never even thanked Him for saving Shawn. Broken, I surrendered my life and was baptized the very next day. Yesterday marked 28 years of walking in that faith!

My son needed life saving surgery at 3 days old. I had never prayed until that day.

The surgery worked. Then another one worked!

It wasn’t until later that I truly discovered God and realized I had never thanked Him for saving my son.

I was baptized the very next day.
