Summary
SummaryFor years, Wednesday nights were a time of free babysitting and date nights for my husband and me—until one Sunday morning, God stirred something deeper in us. When the youth pastor shared the need for volunteers, we both felt the Holy Spirit’s tug. I said yes right away—I didn’t want to delay obedience.
At first, I was hesitant. Youth ministry was chaotic, loud, and filled with middle school boys running everywhere. I didn’t feel like a natural fit. I’m an introvert, love early mornings, and prefer books to loud music. But God used my consistency.
For seven years, I walked alongside a small group of girls—through camps, retreats, school events, and countless Wednesday nights. I watched them grow from timid middle schoolers to bold young women of faith. Now, two of them lead their own groups at UNL.
It blesses me to see how showing up matters. God called me to serve, and I said yes. And in doing so, I got to be part of their stories too. 💕🙌
Jess tells the story of how God called her to serve in youth ministry and the ways what we do flows further than we might think.
