Summary

SummaryMy name is Erastus Auino. When I was 17, my dad passed away in Namibia and I suddenly became the provider for my mom, siblings, and cousins. I felt hopelessβ€”until I visited my uncle, an elder in Windhoek, and truly encountered Jesus. I gave my life fully to Him through Youth With A Mission and discovered a new purpose. One day, a woman who’d been bleeding for months came to me; with faith I laid hands on her, prayed, and she was instantly healed! πŸ™Œ Today, I never want to stop sharing His life-changing hopeβ€”because there’s truly no better life than one with Jesus. ✨

After losing his dad in Namibia, Auino began taking care of his siblings. He wanted to live for something greater than himself.

When he discovered Jesus, he decided to go β€œall in.” Wait til you hear the story he shares. No wonder he said, β€œIf God could use me that way, I’d like to do a lot more of that. I never want to stop!”

My name is Erastus Auino. I was born and raised in Namibia. I’ve lived in Eugene, Oregon for the last 11 years. When I was 17, I lost my dad. He got ill for about two weeks and I lost him. It was a time when I was in high school and at the time I really needed him as a young man and it was really something hard for me to bear. Where my mom got ill at the same time and I thought I was going to lose her too. So I had to step in a role where I was the oldest in the house and I had three younger brothers and sisters and cousins. I really had to find hope in order to take care of them because we were all going to school.

We all had to be fed. I was basically playing a role of a parent and a child at the same time and that was really hard for me. I had to find a place where I could be hopeful again. That summer, I received a call from one of my uncles. He said, hey, come up, come visit me. He lived in the capital city. So I went up there. One thing I didn’t realize is that he was one of the elders of the churches there that was really successful. I knew about Jesus, but I didn’t really have a relationship with him. So it was more like going to church on Sunday, come back and do whatever I wanted to do.

So I ended up leading me to the Lord. I dug deeper. I wanted to become a follower of the Most High God. I didn’t want to be just a Christian. I wanted to be living as an example. So I figured now that I found hope in the Lord, I would like to share that with the rest of my family, my friends. So when he came into my life, I went to Youth With A Mission organization and that’s when my life was completely changed. I dedicated myself. I dedicated my life to the Lord and I wanted to do nothing but being a child of God. I wanted to be that vessel in our community. One very vivid story. There was a woman that came up to me and said, hey, I’ve been bleeding out of my nose for the last three months. And she believed she was bewitched by some witch doctors of some sort. And I said, do you believe in God? She says, well, I sort of am, but not really. I said, well, I want you to trust God with me.

So he can come down and heal you. I laid hands on her and I prayed for her. And I said, Lord, let your glory be present in this woman’s life. She fell down and I kind of kept praying. And after a short while she got up and she says, wow, I believe that I’m healed. And I said, hey, here’s my number. I would like to stay in touch with you because I want to see what happens. And that day was the day that she stopped bleeding. She went on and on and on and preached the gospel. If God can use me that way, I would like to do a lot more. So I kept doing that kind of stuff. I never want to stop. I just want to keep going.

I don’t believe there’s any better life out there if Jesus is not in it.
