Summary
SummaryI was labeled a "bad" black boy and moved through ten schools before I even made it to college. π I struggled to believe in myself, but my parents never gave up on me. With Godβs grace, I earned my associateβs degree from BMCC and then my bachelorβs in sociology from Hunter College. My retail job at Michael Kors became a ministry as I encouraged customers beyond fashion. π Yet God called me higherβto social work and counseling families. π A leap of faith led me to apply to Columbia Universityβs MSW program, and when I received that acceptance letter, I realized Godβs plan was far greater than any label. Today, Iβm pursuing a second masterβs in educational leadership, living out my identity in Christ. π
I was looked at as the “bad” black boy. My teachers saw me as a problem. I attended many different schools as a child and thought I’d never make it far in my academic career. I am now pursuing my 2nd master’s degree. This is my story.
