Summary

SummaryI was labeled a "bad" black boy and moved through ten schools before I even made it to college. πŸŽ“ I struggled to believe in myself, but my parents never gave up on me. With God’s grace, I earned my associate’s degree from BMCC and then my bachelor’s in sociology from Hunter College. My retail job at Michael Kors became a ministry as I encouraged customers beyond fashion. πŸ‘— Yet God called me higherβ€”to social work and counseling families. πŸ“– A leap of faith led me to apply to Columbia University’s MSW program, and when I received that acceptance letter, I realized God’s plan was far greater than any label. Today, I’m pursuing a second master’s in educational leadership, living out my identity in Christ. πŸ™Œ

I was looked at as the “bad” black boy. My teachers saw me as a problem. I attended many different schools as a child and thought I’d never make it far in my academic career. I am now pursuing my 2nd master’s degree. This is my story.
