Summary
SummaryIβve been a Catholic ever since I was an infant, never doubting that Jesus was carrying me through life. Growing up in Malta, I did all the ritualsβMass every Sunday, all the sacramentsβbut it wasnβt until university, when I met my husband, that I truly encountered God for myself. I questioned why I went to Mass: was it habit or heartfelt worship? Then Godβs WordβScriptureβbecame alive to me, and I knew it was worth living.
A powerful retreat called βCome and Seeβ deeply impacted me: I felt a weight lifted from my chest, replaced by light, love, and peace. Shortly afterward, my husband and I welcomed our beautiful daughter. Despite this blessing, I endured excruciating back pain that robbed me of sleep and strength. One night, in the garden, I confronted God in anger and confusionβwhy bless me with a child yet leave me in agony? Then God spoke to me: βAll this pain doesnβt have to be wasted. You can turn it into purpose for the conversion of souls.β That moment changed everything: I realized my suffering could become an offering for othersβ healing and salvation. π’π
A season of homesickness led us to move back to Malta, but our marriage fell into crisis. Early one morning, after a harsh argument, my husband left for work and slammed the door. I stood there, heartbroken, wondering if our family would ever be whole. Philippians 4:13 (βI can do all things through Christ who strengthens meβ) echoed in my mind, empowering me to fight for our marriage. I prepared a heartfelt dinner, gathered all our wedding photos, and reminded himβand myselfβthat with God on our side, nothing is impossible. That night, tears turned to hope as we recommitted ourselves. ππ
Later, I saw an advertisement inviting us to move back to Australia for ministry work. Initially my husband thought I was jokingβso much had been painful the first time we left! But God showed me that every hardship had shaped us for who we are today, able to testify that true love and restoration come from Christ. We returned to Australia, where I now counsel, speak, and minister, knowing that whenever hardship comes, I offer it to God, trusting His plans to prosper us and give us a future full of hope. Jesus truly is my Savior! β¨π
In the depths of her heart, Ella Mizzi held firm to the belief that marriage is worth fighting for. Rooted in her faith, she found conviction that victory resides in Jesus. Yet, her journey wasn’t without its trials; she faced the challenging lessons of surrender and learning to trust in God’s plans. However, as she relinquished control and embraced faith, she emerged triumphant, conquering the areas of her life. Ellaβs inspiring witness serves as a beacon of hope for many.
