Summary

I grew up in North Belfast amid heavy drinking, drugs, and paramilitary violence. I fell into alcohol and substance addiction, spiraling out of control with theft, aggression, and suicidal thoughts. My parents became Christians first, yet I reacted with anger, wanting nothing to do with God. But after facing near-death moments and paramilitary threats, a judge’s unexpected leniency and my mother’s heartfelt prayers stuck with me. Driving home one night, I finally cried out to Jesus in desperation. In that moment, all my turmoil stilled, and I knew I was saved. God transformed me from a self-destructive addict into someone with purpose. I returned stolen items, quit drugs instantly, and began following Jesus wholeheartedly. Over the years, I was blessed with a loving wife and children, despite trials like my daughter’s serious disabilities. Later, I became a pastor, helping others battling addiction find hope in Christ. Even my newborn grandson experienced a miracle of new life when he was born without breath. Today, I serve God with gratitude, knowing He rescued me from darkness and gave me a fresh start.
