Summary
SummaryI grew up surrounded by mental and physical abuse and abandonment, watching my mom struggle with addiction and destructive relationships. By the time I was 15, I felt utterly hopeless and attempted to take my life. Soon after, I and my siblings became state wards and were separated, which only deepened my despair. From ages 20 to 26, I fell into another cycle of abuse with a partner and turned to alcohol and drugs to numb my pain. On July 12 2017, my children were placed in foster care because of domestic violence, and I hit rock bottom, realizing I was trapped in the same cycle as my mother. I remembered how Iβd once gone to church with my grandma and, out of desperation, attended a service again. Though I initially resisted the message of Jesus, three years later, while speaking to God in my bathroom, I felt an overwhelming peace that surpassed all understanding. In that moment, I knew He was real, and I surrendered my burdens. With the support of a single-mom group at church, Iβve been sober from alcohol for 16 months and from drugs for four years. Iβm studying Godβs Word, raising my children to follow Him, and training to become a counselor so I can help others in the same darkness I once knew. πππ
