Summary

SummaryI’m Ayuba, and in 2020, at just 20 years old, I heard the first gunshot and fled for my life when Boko Haram attacked our village in northern Nigeria. The next morning, I returned to find my father among three bodies on our compound. My heart shattered, I knelt beside him and prayed in tears. Anger and hatred consumed me—I even plotted revenge. But when the extremists later targeted my own name on a kill list, my family and I had to flee our home again. My mother’s death from stress the following year deepened my grief. Yet through trauma-care at an Open Doors center, God met me with peace I never knew. He taught me to forgive those who betrayed my family and to leave everything at the feet of Jesus. Now, I live in hope, trusting Him to heal our broken hearts and grant true rest. 🙏❤️

Ayuba’s* father was killed in a Boko Haram attack on his village in northern Nigeria in 2020, when Ayuba was 20 years old. Ayuba was at a stage in
life where persecution could determine the path he went on – even dissuade him from following Jesus. But God has used trauma care from Open Doors partners to strengthen Ayuba’s faith, and even enable him to forgive those who helped Boko Haram identify Christians in the village. This is his story.

STRENGTHENING CHRISTIANS WHERE FAITH COSTS THE MOST Learn more about persecuted Christians at https://www.opendoorscanada.org Contact us at opendoors@odcan.org Our Purpose is to strengthen and equip the Body of Christ living under or facing restriction and persecution because of their faith in Jesus Christ, and to encourage their involvement in world evangelism by: - Providing Bibles and literature, media, leadership training, socio-economic development and intercessory prayer; - Preparing the Body of Christ living in threatened or unstable areas to face persecution and suffering, and; - Educating and mobilizing the Body of Christ living in the free world to identify with threatened and persecuted Christians and to be actively involved in assisting them. We do so because we believe that when one member suffers, all members suffer with it (1 Corinthians 12:26), that all doors are open and that God enables His Body to go into all the world and preach the Gospel.
