Summary
SummaryI used to think that short-term missions were just a chance to travel and take a holiday. But when I went to Cambodia, I saw that itβs about sharing Godβs love and experiencing His work firsthand. π°π In unfamiliar villages, I stepped out of my comfort zone, learning to listen, pray, and worship alongside people who spoke no English. Singing βOur God Is a Great Big Godβ with new friends showed me that simple acts of faith reveal Godβs power and love. π Even on a bus in the Philippines, I felt encouraged that the seeds we sow in prayer and service will grow in Godβs perfect timing, long after we return home to Singapore.
#ThisIsHopeGlobal | Some Hope Singapore members recently went to Cambodia for a mission trip, where God opened their eyes to His work in the nations:
βI thought that short-term missions was an opportunity to go overseas and then holiday after. But through this trip, I realised that itβs not so much of going overseas to enjoy yourself as it is going there to share God’s love to people. We can think a lot and always consider the pros and cons. But itβs really different when you experience life in other countries as opposed to reading about them online or hearing from people. When you go yourself, you have your very own God moments that you will experience.β – Derek
βI used to think that you need to know the Bible very well, be a spiritual leader, or have a very kind heart before going on missions. But actually, as long as you believe in Christ as your Saviour, each part of your life experience is a huge testimony for the people out there. Sometimes they don’t need us to do anything fancy but just listen to them and pray for them. That’s what I experienced most in this trip. It’s not about all the fancy things that we come with, but just a simple life that relates to them and that is what shows Godβs power and love.β – Hanyun
βIt may seem that itβs just a small thing. We just outreach and sing some songs. But all these things that we do can lead to a greater impact that we may not see now. God, in His timing, can really make this seed grow. We are just sowing seeds here, continually trusting in God to do His work.β – Cai Juan
