Summary
Summaryπ βI was living the high-life as a London-trained lawyer on Wall Streetβdesigner jackets, 500-dollar trainers, and all the late-night deals. But deep inside I felt empty π. When the 2008 financial crisis struck and people were taking their own lives, something inside me broke too. I called my cousin, a missionary in the Philippines, and she connected me with Casa Cruzeiro in Brazil. On my first visit to Rio, as I toured the community, I heard Godβs voice crystal clear: βYou need to come back.β In that moment, I knew I couldnβt waste another second chasing material gain. Less than a year later, I sold my New York apartment and moved into Morro da ProvidΓͺnciaβthe oldest favela in Brazil. There, amid the rats and gunfire, I set up an open-door community center, praying, sharing meals, and offering hope. Now, instead of designer jeans, I have a family of neighbors whose lives are richer because of Jesusβ love β€οΈ.β
As a highly paid New York attorney, Luke Simone was living his best life. He enjoyed all of the high-end fashion, food and experiences that the City had to offer. He had everything that he wanted, but it left him feeling empty. When the financial crisis hit, Luke made a simple phone call that changed his life forever.
