Summary

SummaryI remember feeling lost as a child when my father went missing in Vietnam. Growing up in West Germany, I finally found a youth group where I belonged and discovered that God was real 😊. But when I came to the United States for college, I drifted away from Jesus and life spiraled out of controlβ€”marriage felt suffocating, and I tried fitting into a culture that never felt like home. After my marriage ended, I felt empty and alone, searching for acceptance in all the wrong places πŸ˜”. A friend invited me to a Celebrate Recovery step-study at Christ Center in Lincoln on December 30, 2016. There, I found a safe space to be myselfβ€”no judgment, just love and grace. In that room, I remembered the day I invited Jesus into my life and realized He never left me. As I connected with friends who reminded me of God’s promise, my life began to transform πŸ™Œ. Today, I stand healed in my identity, knowing I belong in Christ and surrounded by a community that lifts me up πŸ’–.

Cecily struggled throughout her life to find a sense of belonging and identity. She continued to search for it in all the wrong places until a friend reminded her of her identity in Christ. Celebrate Recovery and a renewed relationship with God gave Cecily the space to be herself, a place where she wasn’t criticized or judged. Cecily’s story reminds us all what it means to find true acceptance and identity through God.
