Thousands of Christians are forced to leave Pakistan due to the religious persecution and migrate to Malaysia where they seek asylum with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and live in vulnerable conditions until they are resettled to a safe third nation which may take up to several years.

Meanwhile they are not allowed to work, have no access to the medical assistance, their children cannot go to the school and they constantly live under the fear of being arrested by the Malaysian police for being illegal immigrants in the country because the state of Malaysia has not signed the 1951 Geneva Convention of Refugees and the Malaysian authorities do not consider their asylum seeker card issued by the UNHCR as a valid residence permit.
