Summary
SummaryI was marching in an anti-war protest in Washington, DC when I first met those peaceful Jewish men who said theyโd found something I couldnโtโreal peace in Jesus. ๐ฎโ๐จ I was tired of tear gas, but watching them remain calm and full of love bothered me. Determined to prove them wrong, I took a semester off from my college in the Bronx to dive into the Bible and compare synagogue teachings with church sermons. ๐โก๏ธ I went to Albuquerque to see this hippie Christian commune where they found their peace. As I studied the Old and New Testaments, it dawned on me that Jesus could indeed be the Jewish Messiah. My heart stirred, yet I was terrified to use the โC-wordโ because of family expectations.
One afternoon, I prayed for God to show me the truth. In that moment, the Bible became so realโI felt the darkness lift, and a fiery piece of peace burned inside me. ๐ฅโ๏ธ Within two weeks, I stood before sociology students at a university in upstate New York, sharing why I believed Jesus was the Messiah. I couldnโt keep it insideโI became a Jesus activist almost overnight.
My activist roots came from my fatherโs civil rights work in the Bronx. Now, armed with the same boldness, I used my art to communicate this piece of hope. After spending a summer in California seeing what โJews for Jesusโ did on campus, I knew my calling: use creativity to share Godโs truth. Today, Iโm pursuing a PhD in Jewish studies, wearing no outward symbols of faith, but proudly aligning with Israel and my heritage. My peace remains unshakable because I found my true identity in Him. ๐
Melissa was a Jewish activist determined to expose and disprove Christianity. She was especially frustrated seeing fellow Jewish people filled with peace and joy because of Jesus. She was determined to debunk Christianity. Watch what happened here as she shares her story.
