Summary
SummaryIβm Lauren, and from kindergarten through eighth grade I was bullied so badly that I believed I wasnβt good enough π. By age seven Iβd been diagnosed with anxiety and depression, and when I arrived at UNL, I felt totally lostβno identity, no purpose. Watching my friend play soccer reignited a spark inside me; I decided to try out and burst into tears of joy when I made the team β½π. Through teammates like Michaela and Haley, and prayers led by Coach Annaβs husband at FCA, I felt Godβs Spirit fill my heart for the very first time ππ. Now I know my worth comes not from achievements, but from being Godβs childβdepression and anxiety canβt define me, but His love can sustain me every day πβ¨.
After experiencing bullying as a child, Lauren struggled with her self-worth. Those struggles followed her to college at UNL. Having played soccer since the age of 4, a friend of Laurenβs on the soccer team encouraged her to try out, and she made the team! Making the team gave Lauren a great sense of accomplishment but deep down she still struggled with her value and purpose. Some girls on the soccer team invited Lauren to join them at the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Lauren soon discovered that as a child of Godβs she could place her full identity in Him- and that no amount of anxiety or fear could take away form the fact that in Godβs eyes sheβs worth something special.
