My name is Jesse, and I spent three years at Bethel’s Supernatural School of Ministry immersed in prophetic training, mission trips, and charismatic practices. Although I initially loved learning how to β€˜prophesy’ and move in supernatural gifts, I discovered red flags comparing Bethel’s methods with Mormonism’s modern β€˜prophets’ and realized we used extra-biblical claims to validate personal experiences. Diving deeper into Scripture, I saw that my beliefs were often contradicted by the Bible’s teachings on prophecy, the true gospel, and Jesus’ divine authority. Ultimately, the Holy Spirit convicted me of following spiritual hype over sound doctrine. I left Bethel, recognizing that genuine faith hinges on Christ’s finished work on the cross, not supernatural displays or personal revelations. Today, I encourage others to measure all teachings against God’s Word and trust that the gospel itselfβ€”centered on Jesus’ life, death, and resurrectionβ€”is sufficient to save and transform.
