Young Mother Of Six Discovers Identity In Christ – Selina Brown – A Grace Encounter

Given up for adoption, followed by abusive relationships, Selina Brown had no sense of identity. With nowhere to look, she started to believe them when the tabloids called her “baby-machine” and a “scrounger” for being a 20 year old mother of 6. It wasn’t until she came across the teachings of Andrew Wommack that she found hope for a better identity and a better future.

Selina Brown was raised Catholic, under legalism and the need to behave well to reach heaven. She told God that once she knew who she was, she would come to Him. But as she got into her teens, she turned to weed and alcohol. She became pregnant at 15 years old, giving birth to her first daughter when she was 16. She had another child at 17, then at 18, she had twins at 19, then her youngest at 20. The man she was with at this time was very abusive, causing her to go from smoking occasionally for fun to smoking constantly just to cope. She was with him for 5 years before hitting a breaking point. One night she meant to have a drink to forget her troubles but ended up getting drunk and started to drive. She didn’t make it too far before crashing into a parked car at 50 miles an hour. Her head smashed into the windshield and her legs went through the dashboard, but she managed to get out of the car and walk. She thought to herself in frustration that she wasn’t even able to kill herself.

She started to think of God more and found herself sitting in front of her open Bible with a lit joint on one side and a knife on the other; deciding if she will read, cut her wrists, or get stoned. Confused, suicidal, and nowhere to go, Selina found God through Facebook. She came across a post about one of Andrew Wommack’s free Grace and Faith Conferences that was coming up. She went to the conference, where they were speaking on righteousness. Everything Andrew was speaking on at the conference connected with Selina, and she started to feel her walls coming down. Andrew did an alter call, asking if anyone there needed to be born again, and after years of searching and questioning her identity, she heard God tell her, “It doesn’t matter whose family you’ve belonged to, you belong to me now.” In that moment she knew she was saved and immediately got baptized in the Holy Spirit and started praying in tongues. It was higher than she had felt in her entire life. From then on, she has been completely free from drugs, suicide, and depression.

To establish herself in her new identity in Christ, she enrolled in Charis Bible College in Walsall, England. Her life was transformed during her first year, and the change from negative to positive in her life was immediate. Today she’s in leadership at Charis alongside her husband Andrew, whom God redeemed from a life of violence. Andrew and Selina have also founded Reboot Ministry which specializes in reaching outcasts, addicts, and goths. They’ve seen countless individuals in Berlin and London set free by the finished work of Jesus.
