I grew up surrounded by domestic violence, abandonment, and addiction. My parents’ brokenness left me angry and seeking belonging on the streets. At thirteen, I joined a gang seeking family but soon lost a friend to gang violence, plunging me deeper into darkness fueled by heroin. My addiction drove me to theft, violence, and desperation, even as I became a father. At a critical moment, overwhelmed by shame and weakness, I chose drugs over providing for my family. Broken and desperate, I cried out to God, experiencing immediate relief from years of pain. God’s answer came swiftlyβ€”I was arrested, and in jail, I began to experience God’s Word and presence deeply. My life transformed radically as I led Bible studies and witnessed miracles through prayer. Upon release, I dedicated myself fully to God, now serving as a pastor. I found the true family and belonging I once sought on the streets, but now within the Body of Christ.
