Summary

Summaryβ€œI’m Mimi, and when ISIS invaded the Nineveh Plains in 2014, I was only twelve. I remember waking up to find my grandparents frightened and fleeing our home in Bartella by car. We hid in an apartment, watching cartoons to calm our fear. Even after ISIS was driven out in 2017, my family almost left Iraqβ€”until an Open Doors microloan gave us a sheep farm north of Mosul. Now I collect eggs each morning and afternoon, and I love sharing them and even little chicks with neighbors who need them πŸ”πŸ₯š. I love my chickens and my friends here; I don’t want to leave this place. Through this farm, God has provided and given us hope amid persecution πŸ™.”

Mimi (12) was very young when she fled her home in Bartella with her grandparents after so-called Islamic State invaded the Nineveh Plains. Until recently, Mimi’s parents were considering leaving Iraq – until they received a microloan to set up a farm through Open Doors partners.
