Summary

My name is Mark Roberts. I grew up in a home marked by abuse, neglect, and addiction in Texas. From an early age I experienced trauma and witnessed my parents’ destructive behaviors, which led me into a cycle of drug and alcohol abuse, homelessness, and incarceration. Despite the darkness and despair, I experienced a miraculous encounter with Jesusβ€”God’s love broke the chains of my addiction and transformed my life. Through a Christian rehabilitation program at the Denton Freedom House, I found restoration and a new purpose. Today, as a minister serving at First Refuge Ministries, I share my testimony to encourage anyone trapped in addiction to believe in the redemptive power of God’s grace.

Mark’s life was a harrowing journey marked by abuse, addiction, suffering and darkness but God’s love transformed it into a miraculous picture of His power.

Born into an environment of abuse and neglect, Mark struggled with feelings of worthlessness from an early age. As a teenager, he fell into a cycle of addiction and rebellion, numbing his pain with drugs and alcohol. The consequences were severeβ€”Mark found himself homeless, estranged from loved ones, and eventually incarcerated. Despite moments of despair where he felt entirely abandoned, his story took a miraculous turn when he experienced a profound encounter with God’s love.

Today, Mark is a minister of the Gospel, sharing his testimony to inspire others who feel trapped in cycles of despair. His life has come full circle as he uses his experiences to help others find purpose, forgiveness, and freedom. Mark’s story is a powerful reminder that no one is beyond the reach of grace, and that even the most broken lives can be restored.

The Unseen Story
Our mission is to share stories that build faith in God's power and presence. Through a diversity of storytellers, we gain further insight into what He is like. ...my message and my preaching were not in persuasive words of wisdom [using clever rhetoric], but [they were delivered] in demonstration of the [Holy] Spirit [operating through me] and of [His] power [stirring the minds of the listeners and persuading them], 5so that your faith would not rest on the wisdom and rhetoric of men, but on the power of God. 1 Cor 2:4-5
