Summary

SummaryI’m Curtis Barnes, and by age 12 I was hooked on drugs after losing my mom to leukemia and seeing my dad in handcuffs at her funeral. πŸ˜” At 13, my pastor-uncle led me to Christ, but I drifted back into a life of addictionβ€”selling and using heroin, meth, and cocaine daily, landing in jail repeatedly. πŸš” In a cold cell in May 1998, reading about the Big Bang stirred a deep spiritual awakening. I prayed the sinner’s prayer again and felt relief flood my heart. πŸ™ Months later, my grandmother’s support led me to Teen Challenge in Colfax, Iowa. Against all odds, I finished the program in February 2000. I walked out with two bags, went to Omaha, found a job, married Teresa, raised five kids and now co-direct the Omaha Reentry House and Beatrice Women’s Center. Life transformed by His graceβ€”there is always hope! ✨
