Summary
I grew up just outside Leeds in a rough neighborhood and, by age eleven, fell into drugs, theft, and violence. After an armed robbery, I was sentenced to five and a half years at HMP Wolds. Behind bars, I doubled down on crime—selling drugs, fighting, and embracing my anger as my only identity. One day, a brave inmate invited me to the chapel’s Alpha course. Curious and desperate, I went—and was met not with condemnation but with relentless love from two retired nuns and a chaplain. That night, I prayed, “God, if you’re real, set me free,” and by morning, my addictions, anger, and bitterness were gone. I walked away from violence, embraced peace, and later ran Alpha courses myself. Today, I serve as a pastor at Roncor Poon Community Church, leading youth who were once “dumped” by society.
