Summary

I’m Jan Teel‑Nealis. After almost forty years of joy with my childhood sweetheart, I was suddenly widowed by his first and only heart attack in 2019. Grief crashed over me in wavesβ€”first Mother’s Day, then anniversaries, holidays, all felt like chaos. God met me in a creative way: each week I journaled the β€œnumber of the week,” seeking Him in Scripture by number symbolism. By weekΒ 16 I realized these weekly glimpses had become a book: *Grieving by the Numbers: Glimpses of Glory*. Along the way, prayer became my anchor, forgiveness toward my late husband’s surgeon unlocked my heart, and God even brought a new love to heal my brokenness. Through numbers, hymns, and hope, I learned that grief is a process with no right or wrong pathβ€”and that God won’t waste a single tear. My story shows that your best days and deepest joys may still lie ahead.

“Instead of mourning what you’ve lost, celebrate what you had, and believe for something so much greater than what your heart could’ve conceived. I encourage you, instead of only carrying the burden and weight of grief, grab hold of hope. Hold onto Him (God), because He is holding on to YOU.” – Jan Teel-Nealis

β€œThe Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit” (NIV). Psalm 34:18
