Summary
SummaryMy name is Osman, and I was born in Somalia during a time of brutal civil war. I lost my twin brother in a tragic escape by sea and was emotionally wounded from a young age. After fleeing through Kenya, Egypt, France, and finally settling in Minneapolis, I grew up steeped in Islamic teachings, even memorizing the entire Quran. I had no interest in Christianityβuntil my best friend invited me to youth group. I originally went to convert them, but God had a different plan.
Hearing teens talk to God openly shook me. I started reading the Bible and asking questionsβfirst at the mosque, where I was harshly rebuked, then to Dave, a local pastor. Our weekly meetings lasted three years. I wrestled deeply with the Gospelβs claim of graceβthat salvation is a gift, not something to earn. When I finally gave my life to Jesus, I lost my family completely. They told me I was dead to them.
But God surrounded me with a new familyβthe Church. I was baptized at a lake surrounded by 400 believers. I now have brothers and sisters across the body of Christ. Though the cost was high, Jesus gave me the greatest gift of all: Himself. β€οΈπ₯ππ
