Summary

SummaryI was at home when I heard that children had been killed at the school. In June 2023, ADF fighters attacked the boarding school here in Uganda and separated the Muslims from the Christians. They killed 38 Christian students and four staffβ€”among them was my 16-year-old son, Richard. When I arrived, I saw his photo among the pictures of the victims. They even showed me a photo of his burned bodyβ€”his clothes removed. πŸ’” I felt like a shadowβ€”numb, alone, unable to think straight. This wasn’t my first loss. Back in the DRC, rebels burned down the hospital in Lom, killing my husband and my brother-in-law in the flames. I fled to Uganda seeking safety, but here too violence followed me. I isolate myself because of the stress; I don’t know how to keep going. Every day is filled with prayers asking God to help me. Sometimes I wonder if He’s listeningβ€”I have no husband, no son to lean on. I cry out for His presence, peace, and strength. πŸ™ I ask for prayers that God would lift me out of this despair, give me hope, and help me find a way to earn a living in the midst of poverty. I thank God for the Open Doors partners who have come alongside our community with care and compassion. Will you please pray that God’s peace and healing will fill meβ€”and that this border region between Uganda and the DRC will know His protection? 🌍✨

After Jennifer’s* husband was killed by ADF militants in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, she fled to Uganda – where her son was then also murdered by the ADF. She’s being supported by local Open Doors partners, but she needs your prayers.
