Summary
SummaryI grew up fully immersed in church lifeβattending four to five times a week and knowing the gospel thoroughly. But deep inside, I knew I wasnβt truly saved. I struggled with sin, shame, and distance from God, hiding behind addiction to pornography and drugs. π I even tried to run from everythingβhitchhiking and biking across the country in search of identity and worth.
Despite moments of excitement, emptiness always returned. I tried to reason away God, clinging to evolution and doubt. But through the patience of my now-wife and a conversation with my brother, I discovered that salvation isnβt about emotional feelingsβitβs about believing God at His Word. ππ
I finally said yes to Jesusβnot because of a warm fuzzy feeling, but because I trusted Him. That moment changed everything. God's grace chased me down, even when I was pushing Him away. Now, years later, I live in the confidence of His faithfulnessβnot my emotions. β€οΈπ₯
If the church doors were open, Jethro was there. He knew the gospel in and out, how sinful he was, what Jesus did on the cross, all of it. There was only one problemβ¦ He knew in his heart that he wasnβt saved.
If he really was a Christian, wouldnβt he act like it more? Wouldnβt he want to be around other Christians? Live a better life? Shouldnβt something be different?
