Summary

My name is Teresa Dueck and I share the story of my daughter Vienna, born in 2010 with a severe congenital heart disease that left her with no blood flow to her lungs. From the moment of her diagnosis and the daunting prospect of multiple surgeries, our home became filled with constant stress, fear, and overwhelming anxiety. I was forced to confront emotions I never knew I had, and I found unexpected comfort in the story of Job—whose perseverance despite loss and suffering inspired me to trust in God’s mercy. Over the years, as Vienna underwent numerous procedures and endured difficult phases, my struggle deepened. There were moments when I felt utterly overwhelmed, questioning if I could bear the thought of losing her. In those darkest hours, I engaged in a personal battle with God, pleading for strength and resolution. As I gradually adopted a new mindset inspired by Scripture—especially the words of James 5:11—I learned to see every trial as a part of God’s perfect plan. Although Vienna’s life was marked by suffering and ultimately ended on December 3rd, 2017, I witnessed miracles throughout her life, and her passing, though heart-wrenching, became a profound testimony to God’s compassion and the refining power of faith. Now, my heart is filled with renewed hope and a longing to one day be reunited with her, confident that my faith will lead me to that glorious day.

When Teresa’s daughter was born with congenital heart disease she was strengthened and encouraged by this verse in James: “Indeed we count them blessed who endure. You have heard of the perseverance of Job and seen the end intended by the Lord—that the Lord is very compassionate and merciful.” James 5:11.
