Summary
SummaryI’m Gio Reyes. I had a stable life—a marriage, two kids, a job—until a long custody battle, my wife’s departure, and crushing stress led me to try meth. What began as relief spiraled into an 18-month addiction that cost me my job, my children’s time, and nearly my sanity. Evicted and alone on the streets of Tustin, I reached out to Pastor Rich, who led me to the Orange County Rescue Mission. There, after a desperate interview and a Sunday service invitation, I raised my hand and surrendered to Christ. In an instant, the weight lifted; peace flooded in, and I found restoration.
I’m Doug Hellman. For 18 years I lived as a criminal meth addict, despite coming from a law-enforcement family. One day, broken and starving, I walked into the Rescue Mission asking only to sober up—but God saved me instead. From that moment, He transformed me: I became a husband and father again, returned to college at 40, earned my counselor certification, and now serve as chaplain at the very mission that rescued me. Today, I lead Celebrate Recovery groups and mentor others toward healing and hope through Christ. 🙏✨
