Summary

SummaryI never imagined I’d be running through forests with my wife and children, escaping bombing and shootings as the brutal conflict in Myanmar raged on 😒. When the military coup erupted in February 2021, our town became a war zone overnight. As a youth pastor and teacher, I watched helplessly as Christian churches were targeted and my flock scattered into the jungles for safety 🌳. With no food, water, or communication, despair crept in, and at times I wondered if God had abandoned us πŸ˜”. Yet, in our darkest moments, the promise of God’s presence sustained us. The encouraging words and prayers from our brothers and sisters reminded us we were not alone πŸ™. Their prayers became our lifeline, giving me strength to lead my people onward. Today, I stand firm in faith, knowing that our God who parted waters and calmed storms is still with us, guiding us through every trial and breathing hope into our hearts ✨.

In February 2021, the military seized power, overthrowing the existing government in Myanmar. The coup led to widespread protests and civil disobedience movements across the country. The demonstrations encountered violent crackdowns by the military junta and led to a brutal conflict, with thousands dead and displaced. Major cities have become increasingly unsafe. Pastor Yang* and his wife were among the affected people who escaped from the town where he worked as a teacher and a youth pastor. They fled to their hometown but had to move multiple times after that, in search of safety.

Open Doors Canada
STRENGTHENING CHRISTIANS WHERE FAITH COSTS THE MOST Learn more about persecuted Christians at https://www.opendoorscanada.org Contact us at opendoors@odcan.org Our Purpose is to strengthen and equip the Body of Christ living under or facing restriction and persecution because of their faith in Jesus Christ, and to encourage their involvement in world evangelism by: - Providing Bibles and literature, media, leadership training, socio-economic development and intercessory prayer; - Preparing the Body of Christ living in threatened or unstable areas to face persecution and suffering, and; - Educating and mobilizing the Body of Christ living in the free world to identify with threatened and persecuted Christians and to be actively involved in assisting them. We do so because we believe that when one member suffers, all members suffer with it (1 Corinthians 12:26), that all doors are open and that God enables His Body to go into all the world and preach the Gospel.
